What should I expect in my first visit to Supra Chiropractic?

We begin our Patient Care with a History and Exam. We want to know everything! Not exactly, but we do want to know exactly what is going on with your body so we can best assess your care. Not only is it important to tell your Chiropractor where your pain is, but everything else as well. This includes things such as lack of sleep, lack of energy, lack of appetite, diet/nutrition, exercise regimen, etc… This information is all important because many of these problems or lifestyles can benefit from regular Chiropractic Care.

I heard that if you start Chiropractic Care, then you have to keep going to a chiropractor forever, is that true?

YES and NO. The bottom line is the answer, no. You as the patient dictate your care since it is your money and time. If you have a care plan, do your best to commit to the care plan and follow through with your appointments. The care plan is made to help you heal and reach of level or correction in your body and nervous system. If you complete your care plan, then it should be up to you to decide with your Chiropractor on what maintenance you receive afterwards.

For the opposite side of this argument, I think it is awesome when someone sees the amazing benefits that can come from Chiropractic Care. In these cases, patients not only love the care they receive from their awesome Chiropractor, but they can undeniably see the difference that it makes in their lives. It soon becomes something that they can feel they cannot live without.

Fun Fact: Dr. Clayton gets adjusted at least 1x per week. (Does your Chiropractor practice what they preach?)

Why are there so many Chiropractors? Are they all the same?

Chiropractic is a profession that is growing quite fast. It is a rewarding career that offers opportunities to help people live a better and healthier life, so it’s a good thing if you notice a lot of Chiropractors in your area. Are all Chiropractors the same though? We all have the same degree, but that is probably the only thing that Chiropractors share in common with each other. Each Chiropractor can have their own take on care, adjusting technique, and practice management. Ultimately, when you see a Chiropractor, you should ask them what their adjusting technique is and make sure it is something that fits the needs you have. Here are some examples, but not all of techniques used by Chiropractors.

Upper Cervical - Blair, EPIC, Knee Chest, NUCCA, Atlas Orthogonal, Toggle Recoil

*Purpose - Adjust Atlas (C1) Vertebrae in Neck for Global Body Nerve Responses and Benefits

Full Spine - Diversified, Activator, Gonstead, and Thompson (Drop Table)

*Purpose - Adjust the spine and neck. Most common Chiropractic methods that are used today.

Extremity Adjusting

*Purpose - Adjust areas which are not the neck and spine.

Dr. Clayton is an Extremity Specialist and takes into account the full spine as well as the extremities to offer a global approach to adjusting the body for best results.
